Tcas

tricyclic antidepressants are proven sufficient in treating Ocd. Though, they are ordinarily not given unless Ssris have not been effective. These are less prescribed medications for Ocd not because it is not that effective, but because they pose greater and more dangerous side effects. Tasteless drugs that belong to this group are clomipramine (Anafranil), imipramine (Tofranil), and amitriptyline (Elavil). Tcas take inventory of varied side effects such as headache, dizziness, disorientation, nausea, dry mouth, constipation, low blood pressure, weight gain, weakness, sexual dysfunction, and blurring of vision. This group pose major threats in developing heart strike and other heart problems.

While Ssris and Tcas are the two major medications for Ocd treatment, it is important to note that drugs such as atypical antidepressants and antipsychotic meds are helpful in augmenting their efficacy. Before taking these Ocd medications, it is crucial to consult your physician for the right dosage and duration of treatment. Never try to self medicate as it will cause you more harm.
